POSITION SUMMARY
Installs, maintains, tests, and repairs shipboard electrical/electronic systems and components. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.
Essential Functions:
- Installs, connects, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical/electronic equipment, including but not limited to LVR and LVP Controllers, power supplies, power panels, lighting equipment and electronic consoles.
- Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, Standard Items, Marine Electrical Practices, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electrical equipment.
- Installs and connects required equipment IAW provided Work Item Specifications and Blueprints.
- Plans and installs correct cabling for installed equipment.
- Tests equipment IAW Test Memo Procedures and fills out and submits all required reports related to testing and installation.
- Performs other duties as required.
Work Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in electrical/electronics, are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
- Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic components and equipment, including special instruments for diagnostic purposes.
- Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel, whether individually or in a team environment, and especially must be able to interface and communicate with navy personnel to assist with repairs and troubleshooting.
- Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.
- Must be highly safety conscious.
- Exposed to high voltage electricity.
- Ability to get a secret clearance is desired but not required.
Education
- High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
- A two-year technical degree, accredited apprenticeship program, or equivalent work experience is required.
- Must pass Drug Screen and background check
