Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Aluminum Hull Welder to join our team at shipyards in the USA. The successful candidate will be responsible for welding aluminum hulls, structures, and other components of ships, working with a team of skilled tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks, including preparation, cutting, fitting, and welding of aluminum hulls, structures, and components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, such as shipfitters and riggers, to complete projects on time and within budget
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, following safety procedures, and reporting any safety hazards or incidents to management
  • Maintain and repair welding equipment as needed
  • Ensure quality control by inspecting welds for defects and ensuring compliance with project specifications
  • Keep work area clean and organized, and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work ethic, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in all aspects of work

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized welding apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience (Certified 111, 136)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience welding aluminum hulls and structures in a shipyard environment
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, tools, and equipment used in aluminum welding
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
